About

Hi! I'm Alyssia Jovellanos. I need to update this page.

Currently building stuff in startup land @ YCombinator W21 & exploring via the 2021 Interact Fellowship

In former lives, I spent time traveling across the world to compete in the International Quant Championship, studying at the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms (MILA), working at Google on Smart Compose through the Gmail Intelligence Team, and taught CS106A for Stanford University remotely as a volunteer instructor.

Earlier I worked on education tools, Co-founded and directed  DeltaHacks (Canada's first and largest student-run hackathon for change), and spent hundreds of hours teaching thousands of students in low-income neighbourhoods about computing. Discovering the tech industry drastically changed the course of my life trajectory + exposure to new ideas and challenges, so this was deeply important to me.

I've shared my work at the Google Women Engineers Summit, at Microsoft Research, and the opening keynote of the Grace Hopper Celebration. As a competitive quant, I was part of Team Canada for the International Quant Championship. We became the North American Quant Champions and finished the competition in 3rd place out of 18,000 teams across 131 countries.
